Jessica Wills Named Granville Schools’ Assistant Athletic Director

Please join us in welcoming Jessica Wills as Assistant Athletic Director for Granville Schools. Mrs. Wills was approved during the July 8 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. Her official start date was August 1.

Please join us in welcoming Jessica Wills as Assistant Athletic Director for Granville Schools. Mrs. Wills was approved during the July 8 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. Her official start date was August 1.

Mrs. Wills is an educator with nearly 20 years of experience in the classroom, as a coach, and as an administrator. Most recently, she was the assistant principal at Hamilton Township High School for two years, and at Hamilton Elementary School for one year. For five years prior to that, she was the event manager for all sports in the Hamilton Local School District. She also served as the head middle school Track & Field coach in the district for nine seasons.

“I am thrilled to join the Granville Schools team, " said Mrs. Wills. “There are many athletic opportunities for students in the district, and I look forward to working with AD Devoll and the rest of the Granville team to support our student-athletes in all aspects of their lives, including academics and mental health. I am excited to work with the incredibly supportive parents and community members of Granville in this new endeavor.”

Mrs. Wills has a Master of Arts in Education (Teaching & Learning) from The Ohio State University, and master’s degree in Education-School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. She was Hamilton Township High School Teacher of the Year in 2017-2018 and received the George B. Chapman Jr. Award for Excellence in Mathematics Education in 2016.

“I believe Jessica’s background as a teacher, then coach, then administrator, will have a positive effect on our athletic department’s communication and overall efficiency,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown. “We are excited to see her skills put to use in this role to support our student-athletes, their families, and our fans.”

Mrs. Wills resides in Newark her husband, two daughters, and two dogs.

We are excited to welcome a familiar face back to Granville Schools…Scott Carpenter is the new Granville School District Transportation & Safety Supervisor! Mr. Carpenter was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting.

Mr. Carpenter has more than 30 years of experience working in education in leadership roles, as principal and assistant principal, as well as a mathematics teacher and coach. Several positions have been within Licking County Schools, and most recently, he was the principal at John Glenn High School in East Muskingum Local School District. During his previous time in Granville Schools, Mr. Carpenter served as assistant principal at GHS and as a math teacher. He also spent time coaching Varsity Basketball and JV Baseball. Prior to Granville, he spent eight years teaching AP Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Math I at Watkins Memorial High School, and was a middle school principal for Licking Heights Local School District.

“I am thrilled to be back with the Granville Schools team, " said Mr. Carpenter. “I lookforward to working with the administration team and leading effective communication to keep parents, students, and staff informed about transportation-related matters.”

Mr. Carpenter has a Bachelor of Science in Math from Muskingum College and a Master of Science in Education Administration from the University of Dayton.

“I believe Scott’s vast educational experience both as an administrator and as a teacher, in and out of the classroom, will bring many positive improvements in the way transportation services are managed and delivered to students and families,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown. “Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Scott Carpenter as he begins his newest chapter with Granville Schools. We are excited to see his leadership style and vision come to life in this role.”

Mr. Carpenter resides in Granville with his wife, Cheryl. They enjoy spoiling their grandchildren, Beau and Leora, and supporting their children, Sara Meyers and Steven Carpenter.

Granville Schools Names Brian Petrie Director of Human Resources

We are pleased to welcome Brian Petrie as the new Granville School District Director of Human Resources. Mr. Petrie was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. His official start date was August 1.

Mr. Petrie has nearly 25 years of experience in education, beginning with teaching and most recently as a Superintendent at Cardington-Lincoln Local Schools since 2010. Prior to his time as Superintendent, he was the principal of Cardington-Lincoln Intermediate School for three years. He was in various teaching positions before that. While a Superintendent, some of his accomplishments included: increasing access to mental health and wellness supports for district students through private and community partnerships; leading an increase of the district graduation rate from 81.2% in 2010 to 95.4% in 2019; leading the district to earning school designations asSchool of Honor(twice),School of Promise(twice),and National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; securing a Federal Competitive Technology Grant from USDA for Remote Learning for $875,000 for 2021-2024; creating and implementing a district ESC evaluation tool for FY12 and FY20, which led to improved support for staff and students for services and professional development; and negotiating multiple agreements between the Cardington-Lincoln Board of Education and OAPSE/OEA.

“I am very excited to be a part of the great culture and collaborative team here in Granville,” said Mr. Petrie.

Mr. Petrie has a Bachelor of Arts in French (Summa Cum Laude) from Ohio University. He also earned a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University. He completed the Accelerated Licensure Program for Building Principals at The Ohio State University in 2006, and the Accelerated Licensure Program for Superintendent at The Ohio State University in 2010. He is a recipient of the Mary L. Durnion Scholarship, a member of Phi Beta KappaNational Honor Society, an honorary member of the Cardington-Lincoln Alumni Association 2020, and received the Key to Success Award from the Delaware Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board in 2020.

“With Brian coming from an administrative role, he has a unique perspective to bring to our Human Resources department,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown. “He has already proven to be a great addition to the team.”

Mr. Petrie resides in Apple Valley with his wife Caitlin, his daughter Charlotte, and his son Owen.

Scott Lofton Named Granville Schools’ Operations Supervisor

We are pleased to welcome Scott Lofton as the new Granville School District Operations Supervisor. Mr. Lofton was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. His official start date was August 1.

Mr. Lofton has 25 years of experience in operations and previously was the business director of Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools since 2016. While at Gahanna, he managed an annual budget of $3.7 million, an annual Permanent Improvement Fund of $3 million, and a $32 million bond fund, which included $24 million for a new elementary school and $8 million in renovations of six elementary and three middle schools. He was responsible for the Maintenance, Custodial Services, Food Service, Transportation, and District Security departments.

"I am very excited to be a part of the Granville Schools team," said Mr. Lofton. "I look forward to working with each of the different departments and the administrative team to make our district as successful as possible."

Prior to Gahanna Jefferson, Mr. Lofton served as associate general manager of Nationwide Arena for 11 years. He also held similar positions at Glendale Arena in Arizona and Centennial Garden Arena in Bakersfield.

“I believe Scott’s 25 years of operations experience, plus his experience with a large public school system just prior to this, will make him a great fit for this position,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown.

Mr. Lofton has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Bowling Green State University. He is a member of the Business Managers organization of Central Ohio, the Facilities Operations Manager Association (served as VP 2012-2016), and the International Association of Venue Managers.

Mr. Lofton resides in Gahanna with his wife Lori and daughters Alex and Jordyn.

Granville Exempted Village School District Welcomes Kim Pulley as New Assistant Treasurer

We are delighted to welcome Kim Pulley as the new Granville School District assistant treasurer. Mrs. Pulley was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. Her official start date was August 1.

Mrs. Pulley has more than 20 years of governmental accounting and auditing experience. Her last position was as treasurer and CFO of Johnstown-Monroe Local School District in Johnstown, Ohio. With her strong background in governmental accounting, she brings with her a proven ability to manage large budgets, analyze data trends to prepare multi-year forecasts and model different scenarios, work collaboratively with third-party vendors, school administrative and leadership teams, and work with all sections of school district audits.

"I am honored to join the Granville Schools team and be able to contribute to the continued growth and success of our schools," said Mrs. Pulley. "I am excited to collaborate with the dedicated professionals in the district who ensure the efficient financial operations that support our mission of providing an exceptional education to every student."

Mrs. Pulley has served as a state auditor, tax administrator, and fiscal officer in her previous roles. In addition, she has performed human resources functions, such as hiring, onboarding of new employees, reporting to government agencies and pension systems, as well as benefits administration.

“I am very excited for Kim to join the team,” said Treasurer Brittany Treolo. “Her experience and expertise will allow us to better serve the students, staff, and community of Granville Schools, while continuing to be fiscally responsible.”
Mrs. Pulley has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Accounting and Business from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, with minors in Economics, History, and French. and has obtained her Treasurer’s license.

“As assistant treasurer, Kim will work alongside our district treasurer to support and maintain the financial health of our district, said Superintendent Jeff Brown. “She will help to ensure that resources are appropriately allocated to support the educational needs of our students and the goals of each of our schools.”

Mrs. Pulley resides in Nashport with her husband and two daughters.

Granville Exempted Village Schools Hires Sarah Giannetto as Intermediate School Assistant Principal

We are pleased to welcome a familiar face as the new Granville Intermediate School assistant principal…Sarah Giannetto! Mrs. Giannetto’s hiring was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. Her official start date was August 1.

Mrs. Giannetto has been a fixture in Granville Schools for more than 20 years, teaching 4th, 5th, and 6thgrade. She has served in many capacities during her tenure, including: serving on the building Local Professional Development Committee, assisting teachers in creating professional goals and relicensing; being a member of the Principal's Covid Leadership Team; assisting in creating rubrics to schedule math students in grades 5, 6, and 7; monitoring students during large group gatherings such as lunch, assemblies and dismissal; completing Functional Behavior Assessments and assisting in the development of IEPs for students; coordinating with local businesses to plan and organize field trips for students; collaborating with other teachers to write grants to ensure educational funding; examining standardized test data in order to make instructional decisions at the classroom and building level; and serving as a member of various building committees, such as technology and character education.

“I’m happy to continue my career at Granville Schools in this new role,” said Giannetto. “My goal is to work in conjunction with Mrs. Lees and the district leadership team to provide maximum learning for all staff and students.”

Mrs. Giannetto earned her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and her master’s degree in education from The Ohio State University. She received her K-9 principal licensure in 2022 from Muskingum University.

“Sarah is a dedicated education professional with 22 years of teaching experience and proven knowledge of curriculum and instruction,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown.“We are confident she can take her teaching and leadership experience into this new role as assistant principal and make a tremendous impact on students and staff at GIS and within the district.”

Mrs. Giannetto lives in Gahanna with her two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family and paddle boarding.

Granville High School Welcomes Katie Beach as New Assistant Principal

We are pleased to welcome Katie Beach as the new Granville High School assistant principal. Mrs. Beach was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. Her official start date is July 31.

Mrs. Beach has been a classroom teacher for 17 years. Her last position was as Social Studies teacher, trip coordinator, and assistant activities director for Mount Vernon City Schools. Her skills include collaborating with other teachers, administrators, and parents to help students reach learning objectives; creating and facilitating instructional plans for student-centered learning and achievement; and developing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and community partners. She has administrative experience in leading middle school athletics programming and coordinating class trips with grant funding.

“I am excited to jump into this new role! I take pride in building relationships and welcome opening the channels of communication with you this summer,” said Beach. “Granville is an exceptional district, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.”

Mrs. Beach earned her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and her master’s degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She received her administrative licensure in 2020 from the University of Dayton.

“Katie is an enthusiastic educator and aspiring leader who has experience building relationships with students and staff,” Brown said.“We believe that she will be a compassionate and effective leader with her work in delivering student-centered educational experiences, and we are looking forward to her providing empowering leadership to all stakeholders in the high school and the district.”

Mrs. Beach lives in Mount Vernon with her husband Corey, son Griffin, golden retrievers Sawyer and Violet, and cats Bogey and Birdie. Her family loves to travel, watch baseball games, and cheer on the Buckeyes.
