The Temple is located right off the freeway, and very close to Costco. Our family just made the trek from Utah to Washington a couple times this past month for a wedding and a family reunion. Stopping in Boise and looking at the temple was a great break from the long stretch of road a head of us! One of my favorite stories about the Boise Temple is the miracle that happened at the dedication of the Boise Temple. The excitement of receiving a temple in Eastern Idaho was huge. The members of Eastern Idaho of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had waited a long time to get a temple closer to them. They were ready to start doing temple work closer to home. The Idaho Falls Temple was built in 1945 was the first temple in Idaho and the 8th dedicated temple in operation, the members of Eastern Idaho were told they would get a temple when the time is right and in 1984, they were finally getting the temple they waited for. By Anne Maxson The power and peace found in prayer are quite universal. One of my first experiences recognizing the power of prayer came from the Lutheran church I attended while growing up. When I was a young teenager, we started attending a new congregation and I was introduced to Pastor George. Later in my adolescence, I was questioning my purpose in life and if I even had a purpose. He shared with me that he prayed for members of his congregation every day, that he had a list and he’d rotate through all the names. He then shared that ever since he had first met me, knowing some of the difficulties of my childhood circumstances, I had always been on his list and that he had prayed for me every day. Looking back, I can see the divine help that could be partially due to Pastor George’s prayers to help me navigate a difficult childhood and the pressures, trials, and temptations of adolescence. Now, in addition to praying for friends, family, and others in need, I frequently submit names for the temple prayer roll. Even my friends and family who are not members of the church ask for names to be added to the prayer roll.
